A classic piece. Brilliant. I knew something of the story, but learned and lot in reading it.

Although different, I also relate to both Richard and Nico's experience in growing up on the spectrum. And I am also a proponent of asking the question - who is normal?

Over the years my condition has caused me anxiety and depression that I survived through the open and creative environment of England in the 70's. There, I could be me rather than the stereotypical Australian forced to follow a highly conservative schooling, work and life.

I am now a speaking ambassador for Beyond Blue (mental health services) and after much experience of my own and listening to others, I am certain - there is no normal!

If that is true, then why are people who are able to function albeit in a different way considered to be mentally unfit?

My condition made me who I am today.

I've had a great life and hope I have contributed to the world and humanity as it comes to terms with understanding itself in ways that work for us all.

Not bad for a crazy guy!
